Where it all began
Cannabis has been used for thousands of years by humans around the world to treat all kind of medical conditions and afflictions. In the late 1980s Dr. Ir. Ronald J. Glas noticed something interesting about cannabis. He found that strains with the same name (origin) could have vastly different effects on people. This sparked his curiosity, and set him on his way to a life-long intensive study of cannabis and what miracles he might get it to divulge.
Why was this happening, how to gain insight and how to ensure people would always get what they asked for would turn out to keep him researching right up to his death.
A new cannabinoid classification system
Ronald developed a test-method which visualized the levels of and thereby the ratio’s between the cannabinoids in all the different strains. Over the course of the 30+ years during which he intensively used this test he collected and tested over 38.000 samples (fingerprints).
He then went on to develop a classifiction system based on what we call the profile-effect relationship which goes a long way in explaining how and why the various strains have different effects on people.
Improving people lives around the globe
Before he passed away, Ron. J. Glas prepared three patents for filing of specific cannabinoid formulations to be used in the treatment of Insomnia, Depression and Obesity. These were filed several years ago and are going through the registration process right now.
The story of Ronald Glass is a testament to the power of curiosity and the importance of scientific research. His work has paved the way for a better understanding of the benefits of medicinal cannabis and how it can be used to improve the lives of millions of people around the world.
Balance in the cannabinoid system
Thanks to a very precise test method and a very large database of cannabinoid fingerprints, we know what we test, what to look for and how to make sure we get the intended results, both recreational and medicinal . This is what Ron J. Glas Certified stands for in a nutshell.
Not just a few main ingredients such as THC or CBD also referred to as ‘lead cannabinoids’ determine the effect of a formulation. Nature has taken millennia to develop this ‘incredible pharmacy’ and the phytocannabinoids contained in a full-spectrum formulation fit like keys to the receptors found throughout the body. All act in concert and have their role to play so the ‘the sum of the whole is greater than its parts’.

Identifying, categorizing and matching cannabis strains with (medical) conditions in order to remedy or at least reduce a patient’s suffering, would continue to fascinate and motivate Ron until his death.
To do his legacy justice, a team of experts has been formed to work with specialised partners and organizations to get his message out to the world. Collaboration partners, notably in Europe are being sought to unlock and further develop the enormous potential Dr. Ir. Ron J. Glas left us as his legacy.
By successfully pairing science with nature, Ron J. Glas has made his best even better.
